Porcelain Crowns

When a tooth is decayed, fractured, or broken, a crown can restore the tooth to optimal form and function. Crowns can also be used rebuild worn-down teeth or to enhance the esthetics of a smile. In the past, crowns contained metal that detracted from an all-white smile. Now, we have strong, durable all-porcelain crowns that can be color-matched to blend seamlessly with neighboring front teeth.

Crowns are full-coverage restorations that fit over teeth like a thimble on a finger. Typically, they require two visits for placement. At your first visit, the dentist will prepare your tooth, take an impression, and place a temporary crown. Custom-made from high quality porcelains in a dental lab, your crown will arrive at our office, and the dentist will place it in a second visit. All-porcelain crowns work best to repair the teeth that show when you smile. For back teeth that incur extreme pressure, the dentist may recommend a porcelain-fused-to-metal crown.
