I have trouble relaxing at the dentist. How can you help?
One of the most rewarding things we can do for our patients is to help them overcome their dental fear. Sometimes, all it takes is a gentle approach and open line of communication. Others need a little extra help relaxing, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Excellent medications are available to help you get the care you need. The dentist can prescribe a moderate sedative that you take prior to your dental visit. This is called oral sedation. With oral sedation, you rest comfortably wile your dental treatment is performed. Millions of patients fear the dentist, and millions have restored their oral health with the help of oral sedation.

What is TMJ disorder?
TMJ disorder is a condition that affects the temporomandibular joints, which hold the jaw to the skull. The joints work in tandem with the facial muscles and nerves to allow for a full range of motions while chewing and speaking. Sometimes, these joints become misaligned, resulting in headaches, jaw pain, and difficulty opening and closing the mouth. Dr. Parsons, Dr. Hamons and Dr. Peters can create a custom nightguard to help alleviate the symptoms of TMJ disorder.

Can you help with snoring?
Absolutely. Snoring is a common problem that results from blocked airways. In some cases, patients who snore have a condition called sleep apnea, which means they stop breathing several times throughout the night. This serious condition has been known to increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. The good news is that snoring and sleep apnea can often be treated with a dentist-made oral appliance, which resembles an athletic mouthguard and is worn at night.
